About Me

Chao Shen is a Chair Professor in School of Cyber Science and Engineering, Faculty of Electronic and Information Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University of China. He currently serves as Deputy Director of University’s Talent Office in Xi’an Jiaotong University. He received the B.S. degree in Automation and the Ph.D. degree in Control Science and Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China, in 2007 and 2014, respectively. He was a research scholar in Computer Science Department at Carnegie Mellon University in 2013.

 

He is currently the Director of the Institute of Advanced Computing and Intelligent Security at Xi’an Jiaotong University, where he works with brilliant students and colleagues to develop intelligent algorithms that advance trustworthy multimedia analysis, deep learning security, behavioral biometrics, and industrial control system and network security. His research aims to build systems with strong security and privacy guarantees, and to explore principled ways to enhance the safety, reliability, and positive impact of intelligent technologies in the real world.

 

He has authored over 200 publications, including 60+ IEEE Transactions, and 50+ papers at CVPR/ICCV/ICML/NeurIPS/ICLR/AAAI/USENIX Security/NDSS/S&P. His works are praised as "internationally advanced" by 200+ IAPR/IEEE/ACM Fellows. As one of ELSEVIER and Stanford University's Top 2% Scientists for five consecutive years, he received the 2025 IEEE SMC Outstanding Chapter Award, 2023 IEEE Early Career Award, 2022 IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid Outstanding Paper, and over 10 other international honors. He has served as Associate Editor of multiple IEEE Transactions journals, Founding Chair of IEEE SMC&CS Xi'an Chapter, and Vice President of ACM SIGSAC China. He is also a IEEE Fellow.
