Pang Jiaguang

Ph.D, Professor

Xi’an Jiaotong University

TEACHING COURSES:

Sematics

Cognitive Linguistics

Theoretical linguistics

CURRENT RESEARCH INTEREST:

My research centers on cognitive linguistics, Chinese syntax, and theoretical linguistics. Areas I am particularly interested in include:

Functional words

Word classes

Argument construction

data driven linguistic research

usage-based linguistic research

Now, I am working on Chinese syntax from the perspective of cognition and usage, dynamic syntax as well as contrastive study on grammatical constructions among different languages. The syntactic phenomena include splittable words, subject-object inversion construction, passive construction, nominal predicative construction, verb copy construction, subjectification, among others. I am willing to work with students who are interested in syntax, semantics or pragmatics, cogntive lingistics, language variety, etc.
