Abstract: The development of hydrocarbons steam pre-reforming process at home and abroad is reviewed. With the reaction mechanism of hydrocarbon steam pre-reforming process in consideration, the application of the new pre-reforming catalyst Z503 in industrial unit is analyzed. The results show that the catalyst Z503 is fit both for gaseous hydrocarbon and the intermixture of dry gas with light naphtha, and it has good adaptability, low temperature activity and stability. By the development of high efficient pre-reforming catalyst, the functions of hydrocarbon steam pre-reforming process are substantiated such as in the reduction of investment in capital construction, saving gas consumption, enlarging throughput, protecting reforming catalyst, stabilizing reformer furnace operation and prolonging on-stream period etc.. Multiple steady states analysis of reactive distillation process by excess-entropy production (I) establishment of stability model on steady state
 
Aiming at the phenomena of multiple steady states in the reactive distillation process, a new method based on the analysis of excess-entropy production was proposed for the analysis and judgement of the stability of steady state. Via the discussion of mass transfer, heat transfer, entropy flow and entropy production, the thermodynamics model for reactive distillation process was developed. Using the stability theory of the Lyapounov steady state of non-equilibrium thermodynamics, the second-order variation of the total entropy of the system was defined as the Lyapounov function (i.e. excess-entropy), and then the excess-entropy production was obtained by the time derivative of Lyapounov function. Translating the variation of the system in the disturbance condition into the variation of excess-entropy production, the stability of system thus can be judged from the plus or minus of excess-entropy production.

Preparation of high-solid content polyvinyl acetate emulsion by seeding polymerization

In order to obtain a high-solid content PVAc (Polyvinyl Acetate) emulsion, VAE (Vinyl Acetate-Ethylene) seed emulsion was added before emulsion polymerization. In the presence of a surfactant system comprising PVA (Polyvinyl Alcohol) and a nonionic surfactant, the PVAc emulsion which had a solids level of greater than about 60% and a coating viscosity of 3000 mPa·s at 25°C was prepared by using the method of increasing particles diameter. The effects of the amount of seed emulsion on polymerization rate, viscosity, particles diameter of PVAc emulsion, the amount of protective colloid and surfactant on viscosity, grit, stability of PVAc emulsion were investigated. The result of experimentation shows that the seed emulsion addition ranges from 5.1%-6.9%; the optimum amount of PVA is 4.2%, and nonionic surfactant is 0.7%; the filmforming rate and setting speed of high-solid content PVAc emulsion are superior to conventional PVAc emulsion.

Separation of azeotropk DMC-MEOH mixture by extractive distillation

Analyzing the three-column system of extractive distillation, two-column system adopting o-xylene as an extraction agent for separation of azeotropic methanol-dimethyl carbonate mixture is developed. The influence of the operation parameters, such as the feed conditions, the reflux ratio and the extractant to feed ratio on the extractive distillation efficiency is investigated. The difference of separation capability between three-column system and two-column system is also investigated under the conditions of azeotropic feed and non-azeotropic feed. The simulation and optimization are carried out with ASPEN plus software. The results show that these two routes enable to realize separation of azeotropic DMC-MEOH mixture. Compared with three-column system, the device cost is reduced and the operation gets simplified, while the consumption of extractant and energy is slightly increased in the two-column system. Since the lower grade heat can be obtained easily and the extractant can be recycled, the two-column system shows a wider industrial foreground.

Simulation analysis of four towers flow in methanol distillation process

Abstract: In order to develop an optimal distillation process for methanol purification to resolve the problems of solubility and low temperature stability of methanol-gasoline and methanol-diesel fuel influenced by lower purity of methanol product, the four towers flow in methanol distillation process is simulated and calculated utilizing PRO/II software, while taking alcohol and water as key components, selecting adjusted ALCO and NRTL model for pre-distillation tower and recovery tower, pressure-increased tower and atmospheric tower. The feed location, reflux ratio and the number of theoretical plates for each tower, feed temperature and operating pressure are simulated and optimized. The results indicate that, the purified methanol product by four towers flow has higher purity, lower water and ethanol content, higher methanol recovering yield than by two or three towers flow, thus the solubility of methanol-gasoline or methanol-diesel fuel is enhanced, the stability in low temperature is improved, while the unit has lower energy consumption as well as more stable and flexible operation.

Process analysis for recovery and purification system of maleic anhydride produced from n-butane

Abstract:The recovery-purification system in the synthetic maleic anhydride (MA) production units by n-butane oxidation process at abroad were analyzed. The technical characteristics, technical specifications, product quality, operating costs, consume of solvent, steam, water, and electrical power, etc. were discussed. The results indicated that solvent recovery was superior to water recovery. The advantages of Conser process and Huntsman process had higher MA recovery, better quality and lower operating cost. When using maleic anhydride as feedstock of 1,4-butanediol, Huntsman process could save refiner column, reduce operating cost, and thus showed the overall advantage.
