Xiaxia Liu's paper, which is entitled "Size-Tailored Synthesis of Silver Quasi-Nanospheres by Kinetically Controlled Seeded Growth", has been accepted for publication by Langmuir. Congratulations!

In this paper, she demonstrated a successful one-step seeded growth route to Ag quasi-nanoparticles of uniform sizes in the range of 19–140 nm.  The key to the success is to carefully tune the kinetics of the seeded growth reaction to an appropriate level by the means of coordinating acetonitrile to a Ag (I) salt and adjusting the reaction temperature, which proved critical for achieving Ag quasi-nanospheres of uniform size and morphology. Advantages of the synthesis include a simple one-step procedure, high reproducibility, uniform size and shape of the products, potential for large-scale manufacturing, and precise size determination and prediction by stoichiometry.  Thus, this method represents a simple yet an effective synthesis strategy which is promising to supply a large quantity of Ag quasi-nanospheres of target sizes to a number of research fields and applications, such as catalysis, antibacterial, sensing, and imaging.
