Current Research Activities:
Advanced cefamics laboratory is focused on ceramic based functional and nanomaterials. The laboratory current consists of 5 academic staff and about 60 postgraduate students. Current research activities include:
·         Silicon carbide ceramics: Reaction Bonded (RB)-SiC for industry application; SiC single crystal preparation; SiC ceramics derived directly from wood, with structure similar to the nature wood and anisotropism.
·         Machinable ceramics: glass-ceramics, Si3N4/BN(nano), Al2O3/BN(nano), SiC/BN(nano), ZrO2/BN(nanmo), AlN/BN(nano) for structural and functional applications.
·         Ceramic/metal joining: brazing, HP wielding, for high strength joining, sealing and surface metallizing, applications in electronic industry.
·         Porous materials: Si3N4, SiC, nano-micro-meso porous carbon materials for filtration and catalyst carriers; porous metals (Al, Cu, stainless steel).
·         Ceramic matrix composites: Carbon/carbon (C/C), C/C-SiC, C/C-Al2O3, C/C-ZrO2 for applications in aerospace vehicles.
·         Specialty functional ceremics: nano TiO2 powers and films, single crystal SiC, High-temperature thermoelectrical ceramics, critical negative temperature coefficient resistance for sensors, etc.
