Introduction: Professor Marie-Jean Thoraval joined Xi'an Jiaotong University in September 2015. His research group focuses on interfacial flows and high-speed imaging, combining experimental techniques and numerical simulations. His research has been published in PRL (2), JFM (5) and PRE (2), with international collaborators in the US, France, Japan, Singapore, Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands.

The International Center for Applied Mechanics (ICAM) is the first of its kind major research center for applied mechanics in China. It also serves as a "special zone" to support talented young researchers to develop ambitious research plans.

Recruitment: The group is now actively recruiting students (2-3) and new assistant professors/postdocs (1-2).

Possible research directions: Experimental and numerical Fluid Mechanics, interfacial flows, drop impact, bubble coalescence, high-speed imaging, laser cavitation, complex fluids, super-hydrophobic surfaces, VOF

Qualifications: Suitable candidates for the postdoc position will hold a PhD in a relevant field. They should be highly motivated and capable of conducting research independently. Chinese and international candidates can apply. Applying PhD or master students should have a background in Fluid Mechanics.
