Biography

Prof. Ya-Ling He is an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences. She was awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and won the National Distinguished Teacher Award. She was the Chief Scientist for the National Basic Research Program (973 Project) of China, the Academic Leader of the Innovative Research Groups of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Leader of Program for Innovative Research Team in University of Ministry of Education of China and the Leader of Overseas Expertise Introduction Project for Discipline Innovation (111 Project).

She has devoted to the fundamental and innovative researches in the fields of engineering thermosphysics and energy conservation. Some innovative research results have been applied to various fields such as energy and chemical industries.

She has been awarded following prizes: the Prize of Science & Technology Progress of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, two State Natural Science Award (Second Class), one State Technological Invention Award (Second Class), one State Scientific and Technological Progress Award (First Class). She was listed in the Web of Science Highly Cited Researcher and Elsevier Most Cited Chinese Researchers.

She has published more than 700 technical papers, in which more than 500 papers are published in SCI journals. The published papers have been cited by SCI more than 21000 times. She has also authored and co-authored 11 academic books and textbooks, and 4 chapters of academic books. She was invited to give more than 100 plenary and keynote presentations in academic conferences. 68 patents and 30 software copyrights have been authorized. She works for the "Power Engineering and Engineering Thermo-physics" discipline of Xi'an Jiatong University, which is one of the "Double First-Class" innovative disciplines of China and is ranked A+.

She has supervised more than 100 graduate students for Master and Doctorate degrees. Her course “Engineering Thermodynamics” is a national excellent course. She was awarded three National Teaching Achievement Award (First Class) and two National Teaching Achievement Award (Second Class).

Major interests are in the following frontier fields:

  • Theories and technologies of high-efficiency energy utilization and energy conservation
  • Innovative heat transfer enhancement techniques (include electronic cooling)
  • Efficient and comprehensive utilization of solar energy
  • Fuel cells
  • Energy storage science and techonology
  • New technologies in waste heat recovery
  • Thermo-fluid science problems in aeronautical and aerospace engineering
  • New refrigeration and cryogenic techniques
  • Numerical principles and the applications in fluid flow and heat transfer processes
