Research interests
The current research interests in our group focus on the multiscale multi-field coupled mechanical behaviors of smart materials and structures, examples such as soft robotics, flexible electronics, smart nanomaterials, big data and machine learning in mechanics. We use multiscale numerical, experimental, theoretical approaches as well as AI to investigate the various research frontiers in these field. Examples of our recent research include multiscale modeling and design of graphene-drived materials such as grpahene oxide paper, graphene fiber and graphene foam. We aim to develop high performance and multifunctional nanocomposites which can be widely used in the aerospace, robotics, automotive industry and defense engineering. More detail can be viewed in Laboratory for Material and Environmental Mechanics (MEM Lab) in ICAM.
