- 摘要:
- Xi’an is one of the most ancient capitals in the world with 3,100 years city development history and more than 1000 years as capitals. The earliest capital set in the place of Xi’an is in the Zhou Dynasty. The first part of the capital is called Fengjing, which is located in the west of the Fenghe River. Due to the limitation of natural condition and the need of politics, another part called Haojing was built in the east of the Fenghe River. The Fengjing and the Haojing formed the first twin cities in Chinese history. The capital city Xianyang of the Qin Dynasty is located in the north side of the Weihe River. In the year 212 BC, a new part was build in the south part of the river and a bridge was built, through which the urban pattern “Weihe River crossing the capital, learning for the stars in the sky; a bridge connecting the south and the north, learning from the nature on the ground” was formed. Chang’an of the Han Dynasty learns from the constellation pattern in the sky, and is in high lever of harmony with the nature. Chang’an of the Tang Dynasty reaches the peak of urban development in ancient China. The city applies traditional Chinese city construction laws and has some new development. It was divided into 108 blocks with grid street system. Presently, Xi’an still retains its historical characteristics, but the uncontrolled urban growth has brought serious problems to the city. Two strategies are initiated in the new round Xi’an Master Plan: the “Jiu Gong” Pattern and the “One City with Several Sub-centers”, which could greatly contribute to the continuity of the historic urban form of the city.
