The conventionalnumericalmanifoldmethodisimprovedingeneratingmanifoldelements.Inthis
framework,theconceptofmathematicalelementisunderlying,andmanifoldelementsaregeneratedby
intersecting mathematicalelementswithphysicalfeatures.Ononehand,eachmathematicalcoveris
recoveredbythemathematicalelementswiththesamenode(andhencethenodeisthestarof
mathematical cover).Ontheotherhand,eachphysicalcoveriseventuallyrecoveredbypiecewise
pasting themanifoldelementswithinthesamemathematicalcoverwiththesamephysicalfeature.
Afterthisimprovement,generationofmanifoldelementscanbypasstheoverlappingprocedureof
irregular andcomplicatedphysicalcovers,leadingtotheeffectassimpleasthe finite elementmethod.
Compared withtheconventionalnumericalmanifoldmethod,thisimprovementcanattain “what you
see iswhatyouget” in generatingmanifoldelements,andconstructionofweightfunctionsis
theoreticallystraightforward.Inaddition,localmeshrefinement becomesmoreconvenientwhen
necessary.Twoexamplesareconductedtovalidatetheimprovednumericalmanifoldmethod. |
