摘要:•Influence of nonmetal N doping on Mg-based alloy was studied from the point of view of surface.
•N has superior effect on lowering thermal stability of Mg2Ni compared with transition metal Zr.
•The addition of N makes the number of stable hydrogen adsorption sites increase.
•The results offered an explanation for light nonmetal promoting hydrogen adsorption and release.
