Prof. He Ya-Ling is an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, expert of engineering thermophysics, alternate members of the 19th and 20th CPC Central Committee, chairman of academic committee of Xi’an Jiaotong University, director of both the national innovation platform(center) for industry-education integration of energy storage technology and the international joint research laboratory of thermal science and engineering of Xi’an Jiaotong University. Her concurrent appointments include deputy director of the standing committee of the ministry of technology and science of the CAS, chairman of teaching advisory board for energy and power engineering in higher education institutions of the MOE, convener of the discipline evaluation group (Power engineering and engineering thermophysics) of the academic degrees committee of the State Council, deputy director of the science and technology commission of the MOE, president of the Chinese Association of Refrigeration, and vice president of both the Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics and Chinese Society of Power Engineering. She serves as Editor-in-Chief of SCIENCE CHINA Technological Sciences and editorial board member for Applied Thermal Engineering among other international journals.
She was the recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, the National Distinguished Teaching Award, the National-level Leading Talent, the supervisor for the national excellent doctoral dissertation, and the National Outstanding Teaching Award. She was the chief scientist for the National Basic Research Program (973 Project) of China, the academic leader of the Innovative Research Groups of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the leader of Program for Innovative Research Team in University of Ministry of Education of China, the leader of Overseas Expertise Introduction Project for Discipline Innovation (111 Project), and team leader of the national first batch of outstanding teaching team.
She has devoted to the fundamental and innovative researches in different fields including energy science, thermal physics and storage technologies has yielded widespread applications with significant socioeconomic impact. She has been awarded following prizes: the Prize of Science & Technology Progress of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, two State Natural Science Award (second class), one State Technological Invention Award (second class), one State Scientific and Technological Progress Award (first class). She was also awarded multiple times the national teaching award (three times first class awards and two times second class awards). With over 45,050 citations, she ranks among the most highly cited researchers in the world.
She has mentored more than 150 graduate students for master and doctorate degrees, with numerous alumni emerging as leaders in their disciplines.
