- To evaluate the magnetic core performance, this article first constructs an automatic magnetic property testing platform. Focused on cryogenic temperature conditions (within a wide temperature range), error analysis of the platform is conducted to ensure measurement accuracy, and the automated testing procedure is described. Wide temperature range (93–393 K) and operating frequency range (50–300 kHz) tests were conducted on the ferrite, iron powder mix material, and nanocrystalline. The variation of magnetic properties under both DC-biased and unbiased conditions was analyzed. It is proven that the ferrite core varies greatly with temperature and is suitable for operation at or above room temperature. The iron powder cores demonstrate excellent temperature stability and DC bias immunity, rendering them an ideal option for magnetic components in wide temperature range applications. The nanocrystalline cores vary with temperature, but their performance remains optimal in the cryogenic temperature. Based on the wide-temperature range data and combined with physical mechanism analysis, a segmented core loss model was proposed, which has improved accuracy compared with traditional methods and exhibits excellent generality. The prediction error is reduced by 76.35% above 273 K and by 20% below 273 K.
