Prof. Guorui Jin is a Professor and Ph.D. supervisor at the School of Life Science and Technology, Xi’an Jiaotong University. His primary research focuses on biomedical photo-functional materials.
Facing the challenges of aging populations and the rising prevalence of chronic diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, and gastrointestinal disorders, Prof. Jin is dedicated to overcoming the limitations of traditional diagnostic and therapeutic methods. His research emphasizes the development of second near-infrared (NIR-II) bio-photonic functional materials, providing deep tissue penetration and high signal-to-noise ratio imaging.
He has systematically proposed three molecular engineering strategies: enhanced photon absorption, stabilization of long-lived charge separation states, and bidirectional regulation of energy dissipation. These strategies enable deep-tissue imaging and precision therapy, forming a systematic paradigm that provides strong material science support for national health strategies.

His major academic achievements include: serving as principal investigator for one National Key R&D Program on strategic scientific and technological innovation cooperation, two National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) projects (General Program and Young Investigator Fund), and one Shaanxi Provincial Key R&D Project, among a total of seven projects. He has published 62 SCI papers as first or corresponding author in internationally renowned journals such as Chemical Society Reviews, Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials (2), ACS Nano (2), Biomaterials (4), and Theranostics (ESI), including 20 papers with an impact factor greater than 10. He holds two authorized invention patents. He was awarded the Xi’an Youth Science and Technology Talent Award, recognized as one of Xi’an Jiaotong University’s “Top Ten Academic Newcomers,” and received the Shaanxi Provincial First Prize in Natural Science (ranked seventh). He currently serves as Standing Committee Member and Deputy Secretary-General of the Imaging Technology Branch of the Chinese Society for Medical Biotechnology, and Guest Editor for Drug Discovery Today (Elsevier, Q1, IF = 6.5).
