(5.)Scientific Research

My research interests focus on the thermophysical properties of fluids (special focus on alternative refrigerants and fuels) through experimental and theoretical work, modeling and optimization of energy consumption, heat transfer of biological materials.

Current studies include:

  • Thermodynamical properties of long-chain hydrocarbons, aqueous solutions of salts.
  • Temperture distribution measurement and simulation of biological tissues under heat stimulation.
  • Modeling and optimization of energy consumption.
  • Moon-based observation system of the Earth's energy balance.

Research Details:

  • Measurement techniques and standards of thermophysical properties: Measurement of statured vapor pressure, pvTx, VLE, density, critical parameters, thermal conductivity, viscosity, surface tension, heat capacity, solubility, etc. development of advanced measurement equipment, and benchmarking study.
  • Theory and prediction of thermophysical properties: Helmholtz energy equations of state, reference correlation of viscosity, density and thermal conductivity, etc.
  • Alternative refrigerants: development of eco-friendly refrigerants which include new energy-efficient refrigerants, functional refrigerants, lubricants, secondary refrigerants, etc.
  • Modeling and optimization of energy consumption: The utility of new energy and regional energy planning, solar photovoltaic power plant, skid-mounted gas liquefaction system, utilization of LNG cold energy, etc.
  • Thermal application in the life sciences: Research of wearable technology measurement, thermophysical properties of biological materials, viscosity of blood, moxibustion thermal stimulation, process control of protein crystallization, etc.
