Ph.D Positions in the field of Multiphase Flows

The Institute of Process Equipment at Xi’an Jiaotong University has several openings for Ph.D students starting now. Highly motivated candidates are welcome to join our group in order to study one of the following topics:

  • turbulent multiphase flows;
  • non-Newtonian fluids;
  • fluid-structure interaction problems.

Our group conducts high-fidelity numerical and experimental research related to the behavior and the interaction between bubbles, drops, and particles in complex flows, as they appear in chemical engineering applications. The overreaching goal is the development of an efficient, experimentally validated simulation model, which captures the relevant physics to a good degree of accuracy and can be used in the framework of designing multiphase separation/reaction systems for chemical applications.

Your Profile:

  • a master degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or another related discipline.
  • good communication skills, highly motivated, with a strong background in theoretical and computational fluid mechanics.
  • experience in High-Performance Computing with direct numerical simulations or experimental measurement techniques are desired.
  • (Preferred) Knowledge of Fortran or C++/C.

We offer:

The position is fully funded for 4 years. For Ph.D. candidates additional funding will be made available for the remaining duration of the Ph.D. studies. Salary for this position is based on XJTU allowance group.
