Graduate student applications (MSc. and PhD. programs)
Thank you for your interest in our lab! Open positions are listed below, however we always welcome enquiries from talented trainees and professionals whose experience, enthusiasm, and research interests match our own. Please read the following information carefully to ensure that you meet the minimum program requirements.
Opportunities for suitably qualified candidates with research interests in Mitochondrial Degeneration & Therapeutic Intervention in Aging, Neurodegenerative Diseases and Metabolic Syndromes are from time-to-time available.
1) Candidates are expected to graduate from top universities from their home country or other international universities. In addition, candidates must meet the academic requirements, usually a minimum overall average in the B+ range. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission as it is a competitive process.
2) Candidates must have demonstrable skills and backgrounds in biochemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and/or neuron biology, etc.
3) Candidates should demonstrate compatetive research skills, with publications are a plus.
4) A documented ability to independently carry out experimental research projects is required, as are good communication skills in spoken and written English.
DUTIES
Research directions:
Mitochondrial mechanisms of aging and neurodegenerative diseases
Mitochondrial metabolic remodeling and protection under stress environments (microgravity, sleep deprivation, electromagnetic radiation)
Intelligent screening of mitochondrial nutrients and drugs (machine learning, mitochondrial membrane chromatography)
Development of mitochondria-targeted functional molecules and nutritional products
Compensation & benefits: The XJTU postdoctoral scheme provides a competitive annual salary (base + performance), start-up funds, housing subsidy, social insurance and support for children’s schooling. Outstanding fellows are encouraged to apply for young-talent programmes and faculty positions at the Institute.
Application: Please send a CV with representative publications, a brief research proposal and the contact information of two referees to Prof. Jiangang Long, Institute of Mitochondrial Biology and Medicine, School of Life Science and Technology, Xi’an Jiaotong University, with the subject “Postdoc Application + Name + Direction”.
Faculty positions: The Institute also recruits young faculty (Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor) in mitochondrial metabolism, neurodegeneration, nutrition and aging, and AI-driven drug discovery, supported by the XJTU young-talent programmes.
