Minglong Xu was born in 1964 in Fuyang, Zhejiang. He received his Bachelor, Maters and Ph.D. degrees from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China, in 1984, 1987, and 1998, respectively. His research interests include active vibration control, high-precision sensing and actuating, piezoelectric-like effects and applications. He has been serving as vice dean of School of Aerospace Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University, since 2015, and as the deputy director of State Key Laboratory for Strength and Vibration of Mechanical Structures since 2012. 

Minglong Xu currently makes important services for government and professional societies, including IAAM fellow (since 2020), executive member of the council of Chinese Society (Shaanxi) of Astronautics (since 2016), the committee member of Experimental Mechanics of Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (since 2015), executive member of the council of Chinese Society (Shaanxi) of Mechanics (since 2014), member of ISO/TC108/SC3/WG6 (since 2013), committee member of Society of Mechanical Vibration Shock and Condition Monitoring (since 2010). He has been nominated as the Excellent Superviosr of Xi'an Jiaotong University for numerous times, the Outstanding Guide for Gold Medals of the China international College Students' 'Internet +' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in 2020 and 2018, and the Excellent Supervisor for Shaanxi Outstanding Ph.D. dissertations in 2020 and 2019, etc.

Minglong Xu has been active in areas of experimental mechanics, smart materials, aeronautics and astronautics, and applied physics. He has published more than 90 scientific papers, including more than 70 SCI papers as first and corresponding author, in top journals like Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, Journal of Sound & Vibration, and Applied Physics Letters. He has been authorized 170 Chinese Patents, 3 US patents, and registered 3 software.
