Ian M Reaney, the professor of the University of Sheffield, he obtained his PhD degree from the University of Manchester in 1989, and then, he worked as post-doctoral researcher at the University of Essex before joining the Laboratoire de Ceramique, Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne in Switzerland in 1991. Recently, Dr. Reaney has been a Personal Chair and the Director of Research and Innovation at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at University of Sheffield, UK. He is also an adjunct Professor at Pennsylvania State University, USA; Visiting professor at University of Avero, Portugal. He is the Principal Editor of the Journal of Materials Research and has been awarded the 'best Knowledge Transfer Partnership based on EPSRC research in 2008 and the Edward C. Henry award for best paper in the J. American Ceramics Society in 2001. He enjoys a high reputation in the field of microwave dielectric and piezoelectric materials, and has published more than 300 academic papers, among which 35 articles have been cited more than 100 times, and total citations more than 14,000 with a H index=61. What's more，he has high academic attainments in the study of lattice structure and microstructure of electronic ceramic materials with high resolution transmission electron microscopy. Recent years, professor Reaney combines his scientific research with practical application, and launches the cooperation in the research and development of new products with world-renowned enterprises such as Powerwave Technologies Inc, Sarantel Ltd, GE Measurement &Control Solutions，and he has been awarded over £20M in career income for engineering research.

Ian M. Reaney (伊恩*雷尼), 英国谢菲尔德大学教授，1989年获得曼彻斯特大学博士学位，而后在英国埃塞克斯大学从事博士后研究员工作，并于1991加入瑞士洛桑联邦理工学院继续深造学习。现今，Dr. Reaney担任英国谢菲尔德大学材料科学与工程系研究与创新处主任，个人讲座教授。同时他也是美国宾州州立大学客座教授；葡萄牙阿威罗大学访问教授；著名材料国际期刊Journal of Materials Research的主编；获得2008年'best Knowledge Transfer Partnership based on EPSRC funded research'及2001年美国陶瓷学会颁发的the Edward C. Henry award for best paper in the J. American Ceramics Society。他在微波介电、压电材料领域享有盛誉，发表学术论文300多篇，其中35篇文章引用次数超过100次，谷歌学术总引用超过14,000次，H=61。而且，其在高分辨率透射电镜、电子陶瓷材料晶格结构及微观结构研究领域也有着极高的学术造诣。近年来，Reaney教授将其科研与实际应用结合起来，与国际知名的企业Powerwave Technologies Inc, Sarantel Ltd, GE Measurement & Control Solutions等展开新产品研发方面的合作，其在工程研究中获得的经费达两千万英镑之多。
