Graduate Students

 

 

Currently, we have more than 20 students in total, working on micromachined ultrasonic transducers (MUTs), skin-like electronics, and flexible wearable sensors as well as their applications in healthcare monitoring, personalized medicine intelligent robots, etc. 

 

Co-Supervised Students:

 

Mr. Yihe Zhao was born in Qingdao, China, in 1993. He received the B.S. degree in Mechanical Design Manufacturing and Automation from Ocean University of China, Qingdao, China, in 2015. He joined the Integrated Circuits Laboratory (ICLAB) as a joint research scientist since 2021 till now in EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland. He is also currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, the School of Mechanical Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China. 

Research topic: CMUTs, CMOS interface, ultrasonic applications, and bioelectronics.

Mr. Zixuan Li was born in Hubei, China, in 1996. He received the B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Hubei University of Technology, Hubei, China, in 2019. He is currently working towards the Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering at the Institute of Precision Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China.

Research Topic: Design and fabrication of piezoelectric micromachined ultrasonic transducers (PMUTs).

Mr. Jiawei Yuan was born in Qingdao, China, in 1997. He received B.S. degree in Agricultural Mechanization and Automation in 2020, both from Northwest A&F University, Yang’ling, China. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering with the Institute of Precision Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China.

Research Topic: Design, fabrication, and characterization of capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers (CMUTs), flexible ultrasonic transducers, and their application in health monitoring.

 

Mr. Zheng Yuan received his bachelor’s degree from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China, in 2018. He is currently pursuing a doctor's degree in mechanical engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China. 

Research topic: Megnet and ultrasound-based online and noninvasive debris monitoring techniques of lube oil.

Mr. Boqing Jia was born in Cangzhou, China, in 1998. He received the B.S. degree in robot engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai), Weihai, China, in 2021. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, at the School of Mechanical Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China.

Research topic: MXene-based flexible wearable sensors and soft robots.

Mr. Qi Ma was born in Weinan, China, in 1997. He received a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, and Automation from Taiyuan University of Technology in 2020. He is currently working towards a Master degree in electronic information in the Institute of Precision Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China.

Research Topic: Design, fabrication, and characterization of piezoelectric micromachined ultrasonic transducers and their application in nondestructive detection.

Mr. Zilong Zhao received his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou, Henan province in July 2022. He has obtained several awards, such as the National Scholarship and Merit Student in Henan province.

Research Topic: Piezoelectric micromechanical ultrasonic transducers, phased array ultrasound imaging, and medical image processing.

 

Supervised Students:

 

Mr. Jijian Lu received his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation from Ocean University of China, Qingdao, Shandong Province in July 2021. He has obtained several science and technology competition awards, including the National College Students' Mechanical Innovation Design Competition.

Research topic: Hydrogel-based self-healing wearable sensors for healthcare monitoring.

Mr. Kang Zhao received his Bachelor's degree in mechanical design, manufacturing, and automation from Xiamen University. He entered Xi'an Jiaotong University in September 2021. In his spare time, he likes sports and music.

Research topic: 3D-printing hydrogel wearable sensors and their applications in medical wearables and intelligent robots.

 

Mr. Shaohui Qin received his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, and Automation from Taiyuan University of Technology, Taiyuan, Shanxi Province in July 2021.

Research topic: Design and fabrication of high-performance capacitive micromachined ultrasound transducers (CMUTs) and their applications.

Mr. Xuan Shi received his Bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering from Fuzhou University in July  2021. He has obtained several awards, including the second prize in Formula Student Racing Car China, and the second prize in College Students’ Mechanical Innovation Design Competition.

Research topic: Design and fabrication of high-performance micromachined ultrasonic transducers (CMUTs) and their applications.

Mr. Jiazhu Li received his bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering from Fuzhou University, Fuzhou, Fujian province in July 2021. He has obtained several awards, including the second prize in the College Students’ Mechanical Innovation Design Competition.

Research topic: Capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers (CMUTs) and flexible ultrasonic transducers and their application in health monitoring.

Mr. Shiwang Zhang graduated in July from the 2021 Hefei University of Technology in Hefei, Anhui province, with a bachelor's degree in mechanical design, manufacturing, and automation.

Research topic: Capacitive micromechanical ultrasonic transducers (CMUTS) and their applications.

Mr. Jiaxiang Wang received his Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Zhengzhou University. He entered Xi'an Jiaotong University in September 2022. In his spare time, he likes sports and reading.

Research topic: Self-assembled hydrogel flexible wearable sensors and their application in personalized health monitoring

Mr. Bin Wang received his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation from Northeastern University in 2022. His research focuses on Artificial nerves and Pain sensors for health monitoring. He has obtained the second prize in the National Mathematics Competition for College Students. He likes sports.

Research topic: Hydrogel-based artificial nerve and their application in wearable medicine.

Mr. Hefeng Qin graduated from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, Hubei Province in July 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical design, manufacturing, and automation. In his spare time, he enjoys reading novels.

Research topic: Capacitive micromechanical ultrasonic transducers (CMUTS) and their applications.

Mr. Ruiyan Luo received his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical and Electronic Engineering from Chongqing University in 2023. On the occasion of graduation, He won the third prize in the Western Division of the "Jingdiao Cup" Graduation Design Competition of the 2023 China University Mechanical Engineering Innovation and Creativity Competition.

Mr.Hongqiang Tan received his Bachelor's degree in mechanical Engineering from Chang Chun University of Technology. His reach focuses on Piezoelectric Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducers. He has won many awards in many big national competitions. He published several patents during his undergraduate years. He likes sketebording.

Mr. Muhammad Afzal Khan received his bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Pakistan in May 2018. During his undergraduate study, he secured first positions in university-based project competitions that were focused on sensors and actuators, and telerobotics for remote healthcare applications.

Mr. Usama Ishtiaq received his bachelor's degree in Health Sciences and University of Engineering and Technology, Pakistan in May 2023.

Ms. Tian Ji received her Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University in July  2020 and received her Master's degree in Instrument  Engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University in July 2023.

Research topic: Multifunctional integrated flexible sensors and their applications in medical wearables and intelligent robots.

Mr. Ehsan Kiani received his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Payame Noor University of Shahrekord in 2018 and received her Master's degree in Instrument  Engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University in July 2023.

Research topic: CMUT-based resonant gas sensors and their applications in environment and health monitoring.

Graduation whereabouts: Continue his Ph.D. studies at the South University of Science and Technology of China

Mr. Noaman Muhammad received his Bachelor’s degree in Energy and Power Engineering from Jiangsu University in 2021 and received her Master's degree in Instrument  Engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University in July 2023.

Research topic: CMUT-based gas sensors for Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) detection.

Graduation whereabouts: Continue his Ph.D. studies at Peking University

Undergraduate Students

Currently, we have 5 undergraduate students  working on CMUTs based resonant gas sensors.

Mr. Xin Wang is now an undergraduate student at Xi'an Jiaotong University. He was awarded the first prize of the preliminary contest of micro-nano sensing technology and intelligent application and the third prize of the National College Student’s Mechanical Innovation Design Competition. His research interests include design and fabrication of multimodal flexible tactile sensors.

Mr. Yibo Lv is a third-year student at Xi'an Jiaotong University and majored in measurement and control technology and instruments. His research direction is the self-assembly of wearable microsensors.

Mr. Xinji Zhu is now a junior student majoring in Intelligent Manufacturing Qian Xuesen Class at Xi 'an Jiaotong University. He has won the National Scholarship and the National Motivational Scholarship. His research interest is the engineering combination and application of flexible sensors and brain-computer interfaces.

Miss Zehua Cheng is now an undergraduate student at Xi'an Jiaotong University. She researches in Piezoelectric-Capacitive Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducers.

Mr. Zicong Chen is now an undergraduate student at Xi'an Jiaotong University. His research interests include Piezoelectric-Capacitive Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducers.
