Professor Wei-Jin Zang, doctoral supervisor, has served successively as vice director of Medical Center, associate dean in College of Medicine, and vice director of Education Department of Xi’an Jiaotong University Health Science Center. Prof. Zang received the Bachelor degree of Medicine in 1982, the Master degree of Medicine in 1985 from Xi’an Medical University, and the Doctoral degree on Physiology from University of Leeds, England in 1993. From 1989 to 1997, she was a visiting scholar at Kyoto University, studied for a doctor's degree at University of Leeds, and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at University of Leeds, University of California at Los Angles and University of Maryland. Prof. Zang won the special allowance of the State Council, Excellent Returned Scholars of Shaanxi Province, Outstanding Mid-Aged Expert of the Ministry of Public Health, the CMB Distinguished Professorships Award and Shaanxi Province Teaching Masters Award, “Special Support Plan” Teaching Masters Award and Outstanding Experts Award.
Prof. Zang has been mainly engaged in vagus nerve regulation and cardiovascular/metabolic endocrine physiology and pharmacology research, and published more than 90 SCI papers. Prof. Zang has been in charge of 11 grants from National Natural Science Foundation of China (including 1 Major International Joint Research Project and 1 Key Project). Prof. Zang, as the principal investigator, was awarded the Shaanxi Provincial Science and Technology First Prize. Prof. Zang has served successively as International Society for Heart Research China Committee of Translational Medicine (ISHR-CCTM) and China branch executive committee member, vice-chairman of Chinese Pharmacological Society Teaching and Science Committee, vice-chairman and standing committee member of Chinese Pharmacological Society Cardiovascular Pharmacology Professional Committee, vice-director of Pharmacological Society/Physiological Society of Shaanxi Province. She has edited and participated in the compilation of more than 40 textbooks and reference books. Prof. Zang was also awarded the Shaanxi Provincial Teaching Achievement First Prize for the year 2009 and 2011. Prof. Zang has served successively as the principal investigator of the National Outstanding Teaching Team “Teaching Team of Pharmacology”, and the National Bilingual Model Curriculum “Pharmacology Course”.
