Controlling BN bilayer stacking orders

Two-dimensional bilayer systems form fruitful physical properties and promising potential applications. One famous example is Yuan Cao & Pablo's bilayer graphene with "magic" rotation angle, which unexpectedly shows superconductivity (and later on magnetism). Owing to the shallow energy valley of different (meta)stable stacking patterns, controlling their formation is one interesting and intriguing challenge. We apply our optomechanical thermodynamic theory and suggest that the stacking pattern of bilayer BN can be manipulated by shining a linearly polarized laser with selective frequency. By applying a semi-classical dynamic simulation, we show an ultra-fast kinetics (~ps) switching.
